I got to Montpellier by taking the TGV from Paris. That’s one of the fastest trains on the continent and the trip was a little over 3 hours, just enough time to destroy some pigs on Angry Birds without getting too bored.
I initially booked a hotel in Palavas, a small town or suburb of Montpellier but when I got there I realised there is nothing to do there but go to the beach. Not necessarily a bad thing but it’s not one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. So I moved back to the city and found a cute bed and breakfast right in the centre of the city. That was a great move.
After that I could step out of the hotel and explore everything the city has to offer. It’s a great city and a great place to get away for a weekend.
We’re going to Dubai this time to see if we would like to live there for sure. We’re getting a car hire in Dubai to take us around the area where we are planning to purchase our condo. I heard it’s a nice and big building that has the state of the art facilities waiting for us to enjoy. My friends think it will be a wonderful experience for me to experience life in Dubai for a while. I won’t part with my citizenship yet though. What if I don’t like it there? My wife travels to Beijing on business quite often, and this time I decided to come with her to see it for myself. I wanted a nice hotel that was near the airport but not too far from the city itself. The Intercontinental Beijing was perfect. The room was very clean, spacious and quiet. The courteous hotel staff were always happy to answer any questions I had. I’m an avid swimmer, and being able to enjoy my morning swim even halfway around the world was wonderful! The beautiful Olympic Park is located just a few blocks away, which makes a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of Beijing. Other must-see’s include the Forbidden City (obviously) and the Beijing Zoo (pandas!). Keep it to yourself, but I picked up a bunch of DVDs for next to nothing downtown. I loved Beijing, and the Beijing Intercontinental was a perfect place to stay.
