Really, when it comes to entry-level digital pianos, it’s not even close. The Yamaha P95 is miles ahead of its competition (click here for Yamaha P95 review). People think that the Yamaha P85 is close to the Yamaha P95 in terms of quality, but these people are generally beginners. They don’t truly understand the differences.
Lets look at the top entry-level digital pianos. They are the Casio PX-130, Yamaha P85, and Korg SP-250. The Korg SP-250 is old and expensive. In other words, it has less power for a higher price. The Yamaha P85 is simply the predecessor of the Yamaha P95, so it’s actually worse in several ways. The only competition is the Casio PX-130.
Like the Yamaha P95, the Casio PX-130 has 4 sampling layers. The difference is that the actual samples are of much higher quality in the Yamaha P95. You can clearly tell the difference when you listen to the two. Also, the Casio PX-130 has shorter looping samples so this makes for a less enjoyable music if it is slow. The Casio PX-130 also uses plastic keys as opposed to the Yamaha P95′s higher-quality material.
Overall, you can see that the Yamaha P95 is by far the best option as an entry-level digital piano.
